Samantha is a consultant nephrologist at the Princess Alexandra Hospital. She has subspecialty interests in transplantation, equity and diversity and health economics. Outside of medicine, she can be found indulging her love of reading, baking and her pet greyhound. She is a founding member of the Metro South Integrated Nephrology and Transplant Services (MINTS) Friday Lunch Club.

Topic : Engaging with steroid users in general practice: Strategies for harm reduction.
Tim is a post-doctoral researcher whose focus is nested in men’s health and wellbeing. His PhD focused on performance and image enhancing drug (PIED) use and the ties between muscularity and masculinity. Presently, his research is centred around practical harm reduction networks which lend themselves to protecting the health of vulnerable groups. His current research projects are examining links between polysubstance use among athletes, building resilience through self-compassion, and the motivations around PIED use in men and women. He regularly engages with the strength athlete community through podcasts, ensuring the end-user is always central to the harm reduction framework being built state-wide and nationally. Tim runs trainings regularly, with a variety of organisations, in the hope that raising awareness and understanding around men’s health (particularly in the context of PIEDs and other drugs) will assist in better wellbeing outcomes.
