Arron Sparkes Senior Clinical Pharmacist – Sexual Health and HIV Service, Brisbane

Topic : HIV therapeutics – new agents that are on the horizon, pipeline drugs and future options

Arron is an experienced Clinical Pharmacist with a demonstrated history of working in both hospital and community settings, his is often the friendly voice at the end of the phone when you call Biala Pharmacy for advice. Arron is focused on providing education to patients who come from diverse backgrounds and key priority demographics. This focus has provided Arron with an understanding of the healthcare needs of patients engaged in care, and of the community more broadly.

Dr Beng Eu Director – Prahran Market Clinic, Melbourne

Topic : Demographics, Behaviours and Adverse effects of PIEDs use – Data from the PUSH Audit

Beng is a GP in Melbourne who has looked after patients using PIEDs for many years, in addition to many years of looking after PLHIV. Over the last 3 years, he has presented on this topic at many meetings and conferences all over Australia. He was a co-author in the Sydney North Health Network’s ‘GP guide to harm minimization for patients using PIEDs (Performance and Image Enhancing Drugs)’ published in December 2020. He is the lead investigator in the PUSH (PIEDs UserS’ Health) Audit, the main findings of which have been presented at the APSAD (Australian Professional Society of Alcohol and other Drugs) Conference in November 2021.

Dr Andrew Redmond

Topic : Community HIV and STI testing – the interface between community testing and primary care

Dr Andrew Redmond is an Infectious Diseases Physician at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and with the School of Medicine at The University of Queensland. He has interests in immunisation, antibiotic allergy, HIV and sexual health. He is also a Senior Lecturer at the School of Medicine, The University of Queensland. He graduated from the University of Sydney in 1997. Andrew provides clinical governance for point of care STI testing for HIV, syphilis, chlamydia, and gonorrhoea at at RAPID, a community based peer led free testing service for HIV and other STIs.
